Freedom Found in Forgiveness

There is a freedom found not in being forgiven, but being forgiving. It is hard and difficult to forgive. I always though of it as giving in and letting the "bad guy" win. I though forgiving someone meant giving that person permission to hurt you again, but I am learning.
Forgiveness means letting your love shine through the hurt. Forgivness means leaving the past behind. To forgive someone is to love them and that is not always easy. Maybe we are too proud.
There is a freedom found in forgiving someone. It is as if your burden has been lightened. It is an understanding of yourself. You have done your part, the ball is in their court.
Forgiveness is not begging for them to say sorry. A sorry is not needed to forgive someone. Forgiveness is not admittance of wrong doing. It is a letting go, a step towards peace.
There is a freedom found in forgiveness. A freedom we should experience over and over again. You can never forgive too much.
